Video about the Master Class

(Description of the previously planned STC), Master Class – What is Art?
A Master Class is taught from a level of accomplished expertise or mastery and geared to an audience that is well versed in the basics.

We do say that Jin Shin Jyutsu is an Art, and what specifically we mean by that often remains a bit vague. In this class I will be speaking and demonstrating from my own artistry as it has evolved over the past 33 years. Engaging participants in lively conversation, I want to delve deeply into the matter and investigate:

What Art – as applied to JSJ) – requires from the practitioner
What it offers the practitioner
What it offers the client
What specifically distinguishes Art from Technique
What ”radical subjectivity“ is, and how that is different from working arbitrarily
What the learner’s inner disposition must be to embark upon a journey from Technique to Art, i.e. what shores he/she leaves forever and what shores they land on, so to speak.

The class will offer some tools on how to hone those skills. They involve a KNOW MYSELF approach: the willingness to feel and look within. It is good to notice when we would rather not, as at times we may consider thinking to be safer than feeling.

In the interest of going deep, participants should have heard and seen me work before attending this class. The demos I present at the five-day class generally span more than an hour. In them, I read the body from a standpoint of wholeness, looking for the strengths I see embodied there – then seeking pathways for them to expand to where they have been less at home. I comment extensively on how I work rather than just on what I do.
